Tobacco smoke, polluted air and infectious diseases constantly threaten our lungs and lives. At the American Lung Association, we believe healthy lungs and healthy air are worth fighting for. Whether it's searching for cures, keeping kids off tobacco or fighting for laws that protect the air we all breathe, the work of the American Lung Association helps to save lives every day. The American Lung Association is the oldest voluntary health organization in the United States. Founded in 1904 to fight tuberculosis, our mission to save lives by promoting lung health and preventing lung disease has expanded to fight all lung diseases through research, education and advocacy.
